Josh Sheehan To Compete In X Games 17!

With less than 24 hours before X Games Best Trick is to commence in the Staples Centre, Los Angeles, Dragon's Josh Sheehan has been confirmed to compete in the 17th X Games in Best Trick and Freestyle MX disciplines. Sheehan has produced one of the best rookie performances in 2011 and has been rewarded with an invitation to compete in ESPN’s X Games, the premier single event in freestyle motocross. Sheehan has stood on the podium in every Freestyle competition he has entered in 2011, with a win at New Zealand’s Farm Jam, six consecutive wins at IFMXF Night of the Jumps and then placed third at both rounds of Red Bull X-Fighters in Rome and Madrid.

“I feel really confident to compete in Freestyle. I spent this past week working on some new tricks, and improved on a few little things in my run. I am now just busy organising my bike and parts in LA, but really it’s great to know that my dreams really have come true to ride at X Games!” -Josh

Dear Dragon lovers,

Last weekend I went up to Snow Park to cheer on team-mate Jay Walsh who was competing at the Indiana Jones and Terrain Park of Doom junior snowboard slopestyle.

The Dragon team rider and 2010 NZ rookie of the year was the Junior of the Day taking out the rookie division as well as the overall prize gaining a wild card entry into the Burton Open Slopestyle.

“It was real fun today. I really liked the course set up and I loved the first jump,” Jay said, who’s winning run included a front 7 and back 9.

“We saw great progression from the groms to the rookies today. We’re looking forward to seeing Jay shred at the Open Slopestyle in early August," Joel Nichol from Burton NZ said.

Check out Jay slaying the course below:

The next month is going to be busy for the NZ Dragon team.. rumour has it some of the boys will be heading over to Australia for Style Wars, Burton Open is soon, as well as the Billabong Ante Up, and Winter Games.

Look out for more NZ snow adventures.

Bye for now,

Fanning & Buchan Finish Top Four of Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay

The fourth event of the 2011 ASP World Title season - the Billabong Pro J-Bay in South Africa - wrapped up on the weekend, with Dragon's Mick Fanning placing a close second, edged out by hometown favourite, Jordy Smith, in the finals. Despite the challenging conditions, Fanning stormed the Quarter and Semi Finals, and it was only through Jordy Smith's local knowledge
that he was able to select the best waves and overtake Mick in the Final. Adrian Buchan also performed well on the day, reaching the Semi Finals and finishing fourth overall. Check out the rest of the photos and more results here!

Trundle's Snow Tales: Powder day at Cardrona, New Zealand

We have been waiting for the snow, and boy-oh-boy has it arrived: The local mountains in Wanaka, New Zealand have received nearly two meters of the lightest, fluffiest, deepest snow I have experienced in New Zealand.

On Wednesday we headed up to Cardrona for our first day shredding this resort for the winter season. With a big crew including photographer Pablo Azocar, pro shredders Will Jackways and Abby Lockhart, Brent Screen, Grommie JJ Rayward, Bruno Moise Cretney and Dragon team rider Charlotte Trundle. We had a great day of shredding powder, taking photos and fun.

The wait was worth it; Cardrona has amazing views, fun natural terrain and an epic park. They opened a new chairlift today called Valley View. It opens up a lot of new terrain, which I can’t wait to check out.

The Cardrona park crew have been working overtime putting in 11 features in two days. Look out for next week’s blog with some photos of their park.

Happy shreddin'

Trundle's Snow Tales: Snow Park, New Zealand, first day of the season!!!!

Hello fellow Dragon lovers,

After a delayed start to the New Zealand season: Due to a lack of snow, everyone was amping when Snow Park announced they would be the first mountain to open in Wanaka by getting their box run up and running this week.

The crew had done an amazing job blowing snow 24/7, with 10-features ranging from the c-box, flat down, street style box to some fun butter boxes; everyone was stoked to get their snow legs back.

For anyone who hasn't been to Snow Park it has about 40-60 minutes drive from Queenstown or Wanaka (depending on your rally driving skills), the windy dirt roads complete with no side barriers, is always part of the fun adventure to ride at any New Zealand resort.

We couldn't have asked for a better day: Bluebird skies, good friends, good vibes and fun jibs, check out all the photos below!!!!!

Till next time, this is Charlotte Trundle, Dragon New Zealand team rider signing off!!! :)
