MICK WINS TAHITI
After a come-from-behind, last-minute, heroic, fairy tale, whatever you want to call it, ending, Mick Fanning ousts Joel Parkinson in a unbelievable climactic finish to win the 2012 Billabong Pro Tahiti. From start to finish, Mick was the in-form surfer to beat. From the Quarterfinals on, he never posted anything under a 9-point ride. Scoring seven 9's and a 10 in his route to victory and Mick's maiden win in Tahiti. With a slow start to the 35 minute final, Parko had Mick comboed in the first 3 minutes, scoring a 9.5 and an 8.87. With his back against the wall, Mick started his late charge, eventually posting a 9.37 and 9.5 in the dying minutes of the heat.

"I'm just super stoked with this victory," says Mick. "I knew I had 35 minutes in the final. It's a long time and I knew a wave was gonna come, it was just a matter of when. I had to have patience and keep my composure."With this win, Mick cements his lead in the world title race, heading into the Lowers Pro.
