We were stoked to hear the news that our favourite female Kiwi shredder, Shelly Gotlieb, will be competing in the Women's Slopestyle event at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics! We'll be posting updates right here so keep your eyes out as Shell takes on the world!

Mick Fanning Crowned 2013 ASP World Champ

In an epic finale to the season, longtime Dragon athlete Mick Fanning clinched his third ASP World Championship in pumping, 10- to 12-foot at the Billabong Pipeline Masters.

On the final, nail-biting day of the final event of season, Mick Fanning was faced with an uncertain path to the 2013 World Title: he’d automatically take home the title if he made it past the quarterfinals, otherwise reigning World Champ Kelly Slater would have to lose the event in order for Mick to win the title. But Mick sealed the deal on his own terms, leaving nothing to fate. In the final moments of his quarterfinal heat Mick pulled into a perfect Pipe set wave, earning a 9.7 and ultimately taking home the 2013 world title.

“I’m just overwhelmed with emotion right now,” Mick said after his quarterfinal heat. “It was a fun year. I just really wanted to enjoy my time on Tour. A couple years ago I wasn’t really enjoying it, and I got to the end of that year and decided I just really wanted to soak in my time on Tour and just breathe, appreciating what we have and how lucky we are, and that’s what this year was.”

Mick went on to place third overall in the event, wrapping up yet another stellar year on Tour. Mick’s consistently been among the Top 10 on the ASP World Tour since qualifying in 2002, taking home world titles in 2007 and 2009. Fanning’s 2013 season was one of his most consistent years on Tour, and included a Quiksilver Pro France victory, a runner-up finish in Fiji, and semifinal finishes at Teahupoo, Snapper, Rio de Janeiro, and Pipeline.

Jordy Lawler Wins Be The Influence Surf Pro Junior!

Congratulations to Dragon's Jordan Lawler for taking out the men's division of the Be The Influence Surf Pro Junior at Coffs Harbour yesterday. Jordy outsed Jack Duggan to secure the win in clean two-foot surf, and was one of the most exciting surfers to watch all weekend, launching massive airs and surfing with style and flow on both his backhand and forehand. In the Final, Jordy was in second position with two minutes on the clock but was able to find a wave, executing a big turn and stylish air-reverse to move into the lead and claim his first ASP Pro Junior Series win.

“This is incredible!” Lawler said. “My family is here and to win my first ASP event in front of them feels amazing! I’ve had such a good time in Coffs Harbour, the weather has been great and the waves are fun and now I’ve won the event and I’ll remember this forever.”

Jacob Willcox wins GOLD in the ISA World Junior Surfing Championships!

Massive congratulations to Dragon's Jacob Willcox for clinching victory in the final of the U16 Boys ISA World Junior Surfing Championships, held this morning in Nicaragua. Jacob is now officially the World Champion for the U16 category! Congratulations must also be extended to Luke Hynd, who had a great contest and finished up 4th in the U18s.
